RESPIRATOR FIT TESTING

The respirators (masks) are worn by the workers usually as a last line of defence against airborne inhalable health hazards such as particulates, gases, fumes, fungi, bacteria and viruses.

The degree of protection offered by different types of respirators vary and largely depend upon how a particular make and model of the respirator fits to the worker. Therefore, Respirator Fit Testing is conducted at least annually to ensure that the respirator correctly fits to the individual worker and desired maximum protection is achieved when worn by the worker.

OHERM offers the Quantitative Fit Testing service suitable for most Respirator brands and this can be conducted onsite at your workplace. Testing is carried out by experienced and qualified consultant in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZ 1715 – Selection Use and Maintenance of Respiratory Protective Equipment (half face, full face and disposable masks).

HEARING PROTECTOR FIT TESTING

The hearing protectors are worn by the workers usually as a last line of defence against hazardous noise in a workplace.  The level of protection offered by different types of hearing protection devices vary and largely depend upon how a particular make and model of the hearing protection device to the worker. Therefore, Hearing Protector Fit Testing is conducted to ensure that the respirator fits an individual worker and desired maximum protection is achieved when correctly worn by the worker.

OHERM can offer a Fit Testing service suitable for earplugs of most brands and this can be conducted onsite at your workplace. Testing is carried out by experienced and qualified consultant who can provide noise and hearing protection related awareness to the workers who undergo the fit testing.
